Information about applying for housing program assistance.

TAKE NOTICE 
THE ALBUQUERQUE HOUSING AUTHORITY WILL BE
RESTRICTING THE INTAKE OF NEW APPLICATIONS
FROM DECEMBER 5, 2013 UNTIL OCTOBER 1, 2014

 

The Albuquerque Housing Authority (AHA) will be restricting the intake of new applications for housing assistance starting on December 5, 2013 until October 1, 2014.   No new applications will be accepted with the exception of the following:

1)Applicants who are in need of emergency housing due to involuntary displacement.   These conditions would include such events as fire, condemnation of housing or displacement due to being a victim of domestic violence.   AHA has a detailed policy regarding what constitutes involuntary displacement.   Please call 505-764-3920 to speak a staff person if you feel you have been involuntarily displaced.   Applicants who are involuntarily displaced will be screened on an appointment only basis.

2)AHA will continue to accept applications for homeless veterans through the HUD Veterans Assistance for Supportive Housing(VASH) Program .   This program is administered in conjunction with the United States Veterans Administration.   Please call 505-764-3920 if you have questions about the administration of this program.   Applicants for this program will be initially screened by the Veterans Administration.

3)AHA will continue to accept applications from clients who are presently in a skilled nursing facility and transitioning to independent living.  Please call 505-764-3920 for the guidelines regarding this program.   Applicants for this program will be screened on an appointment only basis.

ALL OTHER APPLICATIONS WILL NO LONGER BE ACCEPTED AT THE AHA OFFICE AT 1840 UNIVERSITY SE, ALBUQUERQUE NM 87106 OR BY MAIL FOR THE PERIOD OF TIME BETWEEN DECEMBER 5, 2013 UNTIL OCTOBER 1, 2014.   AHA will begin taking applications again on October 1, 2014 unless the Board of Housing Commissioners takes additional action.
